Construction of the Carnation Wastewater Treatment Plant and effluent pipe began summer 2006 and is started operations May 2008.

Dedication of the Carnation Sewer System.

May 5, 2008

First day of operations for the City of Carnation collection system and the King County wastewater treatment plant.

February 2008

Construction of the main sewer conveyance system is now complete. The final side sewer connections cannot be made until after the system (treatment plant) is operational. Refer to City of Carnation Sewer System Project for more information.

Spring 2007

Construction of the conveyance system began.

Summer 2006

Construction of the treatment plant began.

December 2004

The County Executive selected the city-owned site for the new wastewater treatment plant, eliminated further consideration of the upland discharge alternative and carried forward the wetlands enhancement and river discharge alternatives for continued evaluation. (For more information, refer to Siting Process.)

July 2002

The Carnation City Council approved an agreement with King County to build a treatment plant. In the agreement, the city will design and build a local wastewater collection system while the county will design, build, operate and maintain a new treatment plant and associated discharge facilities. (News Release, Aug. 23, 2002 -- King County plans wastewater treatment facility for Carnation)
