Cedar River - Jones Bend Reach Acquisition
WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Projects
Project Description
- This acquisition takes a “reach” approach to continued acquisition of high value salmonid habitat. The strategy is to focus on the overall reach and achieve protection of the reach a few parcels at a time.
- This project will initiate protection of about 7.5 acres within the Jones Bend reach of the lower Cedar River.
- This site was selected by the Cedar River Council as the #1 reach for habitat protection during the year 2000 prioritization process.
- Projects addresses limiting factors (loss of channel complexity, increased sedimentation, poor water quality, and degradation of riparian conditions) along the lower Cedar River.
