Issaquah Waterways - Carey Creek Reach Acquisition
WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Projects

Project Description

This conservation easement will protect approximately 10 acres of forested riparian area and adjacent uplands.

  • Map of Carey Creek Target AcquisitionCarey Creek is a headwater tributary of Issaquah Creek, and contains some of the best remaining lowland stream habitat in the Issaquah Basin. The target area has lots of large woody debris, forested riparian zone, great pool-riffle ratio, elk herd, and freshwater mussels.
  • The project addresses limiting factors (loss of channel complexity, degradation of riparian conditions, and altered hydrology) in a core sub-area for chinook spawning and rearing in WRIA 8.
