Why is this Subarea Important to Salmon?

The Issaquah Creek Subarea supports chinook, coho and kokanee salmon and steelhead trout. The middle and upper sections of Issaquah Creek have exceptional fish habitat; Carey Creek and Holder Creek, in particular, provide excellent habitat for salmon. Factors contributing to the decline of salmon habitat in this subarea include fish access and passage barriers, loss of channel complexity and connectivity and poor water quality.
