Why is this Subarea Important to Salmon?

The Swamp Creek Subarea is a highly developed sub-watershed that is located completely within the urban growth boundaries of King and Snohomish counties and other jurisdictions. Swamp Creek supports runs of chinook, sockeye, kokanee and coho salmon and steelhead trout. Fish access and barriers, altered channel complexity and hydrology and increased sedimentation are among the factors contributing to salmon habitat decline in the subarea.
