Purpose

The purpose of the Implementation Technical Committee is to assist in the implementation of the 2005 Salmon Habitat Plan by serving as a technical- and policy-focused subcommittee to the Steering Committee.

The Implementation Technical Committee focuses on:

  • Overseeing the collection and interpretation of physical and biological monitoring data for salmon habitat restoration projects completed in the watershed. These data will help determine the success of current restoration projects. The oversight role is envisioned to be distanced from the actual data collection and will not entail the conduct of monitoring efforts.
  • Providing recommendations to the WRIA 9 Watershed Forum and WRIA 9 Steering Committee regarding improvements to the existing projects and/or modifications to incorporate into future projects.

The Implementation Technical Committee is a successor to the Planning Work Group and Technical Committee, which helped create the Salmon Habitat Plan.

Accomplishments

The Implementation Technical Committee has developed a work program for 2007.

The Implementation Technical Committee currently is working with other partners to develop the H-integration approach that will combine and coordinate habitat, hatchery, and harvest practices (three of the "Hs") to maximize the likelihood of salmon recovery in the Green/Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed.

Membership

The Implementation Technical Committee includes staff from local jurisdictions, an environmental group, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, and state and federal agencies.

Decisionmaking is by consensus. When this is not possible, provisions for the expression of minority opinions will be made so that decision makers and the public are informed of the diversity of views.

Meetings

Meetings of the Implementation Technical Committee are open to the public. View the meeting schedule.
