News Release King County's Community Outreach Program is offering a free workshop in Maple Valley on crafting "enviro-friendly" and easily maintainable landscapes, November 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This Naturescaping Workshop takes place in the Tahoma School District Central Services Building, located at 25720 Maple Valley-Black Diamond Rd HWY 169. The workshop is a perfect opportunity to learn how to create a low maintenance landscape that is healthier for both people and local critters. In addition, the workshop provides invaluable lessons on how to improve soil, shrink lawns and reduce the amount of time and energy spent on yard work. As an added bonus, attendees will also learn how to make their yards better places for birds and other wildlife by using native plants. Another plus is that by attending this conveniently scheduled workshop, all participants become eligible to travel to a site to dig up native plants for their own personal naturescaping projects. This great opportunity occurs on Sunday, November 16, at a site selected for development. The salvage site is generously provided by the Issaquah School District. Anyone interested in this salvage excursion must attend the workshop to participate. The location and directions will be provided at the workshop. To learn more about naturescaping with native plants, or for directions to the workshop, please visit King County's Web site, or contact Greg Rabourn at 206-296-1923, greg.rabourn@kingcounty.gov, or Bob Spencer at 206-684-4163, bob.spencer@seattle.gov.
