News Release

King County invites volunteers to salvage native plants

Join other volunteers digging up native trees and shrubs from a site soon to be cleared for a new school in Issaquah.

The salvage occurs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on November 8, and promises to be a great opportunity to help the environment. Following the salvage, from 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m., volunteers will place the salvaged plants in pots at the Native Plant Holding Facility. This will allow the plants to recuperate before going to King County habitat restoration projects along local rivers and streams.

Once replanted, the native plants will help reduce erosion, shade streams and provide habitat for wildlife. Volunteer for half the day, or the entire event, and make a positive difference in our local environment. The Issaquah School District generously provided the salvage site.

Directions to the salvage site:

From I-5 or I-405, take I-90 east to the Highland Dr. Exit (NEW exit 18) in Issaquah. Stay left on the off-ramp to continue onto Highland Dr. Drive through several lights. Turn right onto Issaquah-Fall City Road. Just past where the right lane ends, public event signs on your right will direct you to the site.
