King County is inviting Renton business operators and residents to a December 15 public discussion of a project to restore a damaged regional sewer line. The Eastside Interceptor was damaged by a 1965 earthquake, and a temporary repair reduced its capacity. The line runs through central Renton on its way to the East Section Water Reclamation Plant, following Burnett Avenue South from the Cedar River to Southwest Seventh Street, where it turns west toward the regional treatment plant.
The King County Department of Natural Resources is conducting the public meeting Tuesday evening, December 15 at the Renton Community Center, 1715 Maple Valley Highway. An open house begins at 6:00 p.m. and a project discussion starts at 7:00 p.m. Attendees will hear information about potential alternatives, and will be asked to convey any ideas or concerns they might have. The project team will consider public input as it evaluates ways to restore the damaged sewer.
