Minor flooding expected to continue on Turkey Day
For current flooding information, please see King County Flooding Topics.
Minor low land flooding is expected late this afternoon as the Snoqualmie River crests at one to two feet above flood stage at Carnation. The White River is expected to reach its highest flow early this afternoon at Buckley on the King-Pierce County line. Both are in Phase II flood stage, which means minor flooding of local roads and low lying areas. In the Buckley area, access to a few homes may be cut off.
The upper Snoqualmie and the Told rivers and Issaquah Creek are receding after cresting overnight.
Several roads are closed in the Snoqualmie Valley because of floodwaters. Motorists are advised not to drive around barricades.
King County crews worked through the night and many workers will spend part of their Thanksgiving Holiday monitoring rivers and roads and answering citizen calls for assistance and information. The Flood Warning Center at Boeing Field will remain open today and into this evening. Citizens may call 206-296-4535 for flooding information.
King County Roads Division crews cleared Peasely Canyon Road shortly after 11 a.m. today after a mudslide at 8:30 p.m., Wednesday blocked the road and temporarily trapped at least two cars. Crews also worked around the clock Wednesday and today answering citizen calls for help in unplugging clogged storm drains, putting up barricades at flooded roads and distributing sand and sandbags. Citizens needing help with roads or sandbags may call the Renton Roads Maintenance Shop at 206-296-8100.
