Media Advisory King County Executive Ron Sims, and several Metropolitan King County Councilmembers, will unveil a new Environmental Information Display in the Metro Tunnel to the public Thursday. Thursday, July 6, 2000 11:30 a.m. Metro Tunnel Westlake Station (Mezzanine level by the Metro Pass Sales Office & Bon Marche) "The display is designed to capture the attention of the thousands of Metro riders that travel through the tunnel each year and the diversity they represent," said Sims. "It provides them with information about environmental topics from A to Z," he said. The beautifully designed display will be mounted on the wall at the Westlake Station located on the mezzanine level of the Metro Tunnel. The display will tell the story of the county's Department of Natural Resources through brochures like "Hints for Healthy Streams," "Natural Lawn Care," "Noxious Weeds," "Cedar Hills Regional Landfill," and other topics such as recycling household, commercial, and hazardous waste and watershed and wastewater information. Metro customers can view the display's changing environmental themes as they wait in line to buy bus passes. The information display is sponsored by the King County Department of Natural Resources' Commission for Marketing Recyclable Materials, Wastewater Treatment Division, Water and Land Resources Division, and Solid Waste Division. Please contact Deborah Brockway, King County Commission for Marketing Recyclable Materials, at 206-296-4439 with questions or comments.
