The Friends of Fauntleroy Creek will begin laying the stones of Link by Link, an educational art installation that takes visitors on an environmental tour of watershed habitats. Schoolchildren, volunteers and Link by Link creator Tom Jay, a Chimacum artist and naturalist, will be placing the petroglyph-like stones at the following locations:

Work locations:
Friday, August 18
10 a.m. to Noon, Barton Street entrance to Fauntleroy Park
Noon to 4 p.m., 4539 SW Director Place

Local schoolchildren chose text and images for the stones that mark the sites and suggested on-site activities to help kids their own age learn about each habitat and how to take care of it. Funded by a King County grant and developed by Brooke Best and Judy Pickens, Link by Link is expected to be a popular field trip destination for schools and family outings to promote awareness and stewardship of urban watersheds among youngsters.

To coordinate photo opportunities, please call Judy Pickens at 206-579-4203 (mobile) or 938-4203 (home).
