News Release
King County's Wastemobile to visit Redmond

Toxic! Poisonous! Hazardous! If these words appear on a product label in your home, the substance not only poses a threat to humans and pets, but the environment as well. Don't dump those unwanted products down the drain or in the garbage! Bring them to the King County Hazardous Wastemobile at the Bear Creek Park & Ride from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 13, 14 and 15 and October 20, 21 and 22.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Americans generate 1.6 million tons of household hazardous waste per year. Improper disposal of this waste puts the health of our environment at risk. But disposed of properly, many hazardous household materials can be reprocessed or recycled.

The Wastemobile is an easy and free way to dispose of a variety of household hazardous waste.

Hazardous products found in the home include insecticides, weed killer, chlorine bleach, oven and drain cleaners, paint and paint thinners, car batteries, and motor oil. Even common household items such as mothballs, nail polish remover, printing inks and some flea remedies are considered hazardous.

If you're reconsidering the use of products containing Dursban or chlorpyrifos, as a result of the EPA's revised risk assessment associated with the chemical, now is the time to take those products to the Wastemobile for safe disposal.
