News Release King County is seeking a few hours of your time for a volunteer project to help restore Green River habitat at King County Park System's O'Grady Park. You'll actually dig in and plant native trees and shrubs along the river to enhance fish and wildlife habitat in the park as part of a long-term effort to restore rivers and streams in the Green River watershed. It's a fun weekend activity and learning experience for families, students, clubs, neighbors or anyone who wants to get involved with helping salmon. Volunteers can choose to plant on either Saturday, November 4, or Saturday, November 11, or both! Planting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and volunteers should meet at Wabash Presbyterian Church in Auburn. For either day, bring a shovel if you have one and wear old "work" clothes and rubber boots or heavy shoes. Tools will be provided, if needed. The planting will take place regardless of rain, so dress appropriately for the weather. To reserve a space and get directions, or for more information on this or other volunteer opportunities, please call Tina Miller, King County Department of Natural Resources, at 206-296-2990 or e-mail tina.miller@kingcounty.gov. A parent or guardian must accompany volunteers under 16. Reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities will be provided upon request. TTY: 1-800-833-6388.
