News Release For farms and businesses interested in learning how to convert organic waste problems into resource opportunities, King County can help. Beginning in January, the county Department of Natural Resources Solid Waste Division will offer a free, in-depth compost training program. The six-session training program is designed for King County organic waste generators with small, medium and large scale operations, particularly those with little to no prior experience with composting. The training series, partially funded by the Washington State Department of Ecology, will begin in Renton, Wednesday, January 31, and continue on various Wednesday evenings and Saturdays through February. The opening session will run from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the King Conservation District, located at 935 Powell Avenue Southwest. The training sessions also offer one-on-one guidance through the regulatory and permitting process for receiving and processing yard debris and other urban organic wastes.
