King County crews repairing sewage line leak in Bellevue

Operations crews from the Wastewater Treatment Division of the King County Department of Natural Resources are on the scene of a sewer pipe leak in the Wilburton area of Bellevue. The leak was discovered this afternoon.

The crews are containing the leak with a repair band on the 21-inch siphon. The crack was leaking an estimated half-liter of flow per minute onto land, where it traveled approximately 20 feet into Mercer Slough. The leak is located in a non-residential area, 100 feet away from the intersection of SE 8th St. and 120th St. SE. Water quality samples have been collected and are being analyzed.

The county will provide more information as it becomes available. Public Health - Seattle King County and the state Department of Ecology have been notified.
