News Release
Community Open House on Water Reuse in the Sammamish Valley scheduled August 13th

The public is invited to a third community open house on Tuesday evening, August 13 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to learn more about King County's plans to site and design a reclaimed water facility in the Sammamish Valley.

Reclaimed water is highly treated wastewater that is safe for irrigation and industrial uses. Once reclaimed water is available along the Sammamish River, several water users will switch to reclaimed water for irrigation and stop drawing water from the river or groundwater. This will leave more water in the river for the salmon that migrate up the Sammamish River to spawn each fall.

This is the third community open house on this project and it will be held in Room Two of the Redmond Regional Library at 15990 NE 85th Street in Redmond on Tuesday evening, August 13 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Attendees of the open house will be able to:

  • Get information about King County's Water Reuse Program
  • Hear about the results of the analysis of potential locations and find out which site is at the top of the list
  • Provide input on preliminary design concepts for the facility
  • Learn about options to build the facility in an environmentally responsible way
  • Give their ideas on how to make the project an attractive amenity that fits in with the valley's character.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a series of information stations. A presentation will start at 6:45 p.m. followed by an opportunity for discussion. For more information on the open house, contact Jo Sullivan at 206-296-8361 or jo.sullivan@kingcounty.gov, or check the Web at http://dnr.metrokc.gov/WTD/reuse.
