News Release Have you wondered about what takes place at a wastewater treatment plant? Are you curious about the various technologies being considered for the planned Brightwater plant? To help answer those questions, the King County Wastewater Treatment Division has scheduled a technology seminar for Saturday, October 5. The seminar will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Kokanee Elementary School, 23710 57th Avenue S.E., Woodinville. Participants are welcome to take part in all or part of the seminar. King County is planning Brightwater to protect public health and the environment by treating wastewater from rapidly growing south Snohomish County and north King County. Three alternative treatment systems are being considered. Each includes a plant site, conveyance pipeline corridor and marine outfall. Locations under consideration for the treatment plant are the Unocal Corp. site in Edmonds and a site next to State Route 9 north of Woodinville. During the seminar, participants can share their questions about technology with technical experts. They can learn more about processes to take place at Brightwater. And they can learn more about how Brightwater will protect public health and the environment.
If you have questions or need reasonable accommodations at the seminar for people with disabilities, call (206) 684-6799, (888) 707-8571 (toll free) or 711 (TTY). You can also get more information at the Brightwater Web site: http://dnr.metrokc.gov/wtd/brightwater/. King County's Wastewater Treatment Division protects public health and the environment by serving 16 cities, 16 sewer districts and more than 1.4 million residents in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.
