News Release Forty-three students from South Delridge and White Center dedicated their summer to the future of their community. The youths spent the summer documenting and mapping the assets and deficits of their neighborhood, so they could develop recommendations for improvements. The students will present their findings for the first time on Monday, October 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cascade Middle School (11212 10th Avenue SW). The recommendations address a number of topics including public safety, teen services, recreation, physical infrastructure and family support services. After the student's presentation, the audience will participate in break-out discussions of the key recommendations. King County staff will lead break-out sessions on the topics of recreation and Lakewood Park. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this free event. Families are welcome. The King County Parks and Recreation Division supported the summer program by offering in-kind staffing assistance. Other sponsors of the program are Community Alliance for Youth, New Start, SafeFutures Youth Center, Consejo Counseling & Referral Services, Annie E. Casey Foundation, United Way, King County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, City of Seattle Human Services Department, WSU 4-H Program and Making Connections Learning Partnership.
