Parks events: June 14 to June 22, 2003
Marymoor Park
June 14 & 15 Concerts at Marymoor: The Moody Blues 7 p.m.
The Moody Blues will appear Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15, 7 p.m. General admission tickets are still available for both shows at $49.50 (minus ticket surcharges) at Ticketmaster outlets and www.ticketmaster.com.
June 21 Flying Wheels Summer Century 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The Cascade Bicycle Club event benefits the American Diabetes Association. Riders can join others to bike a 25, 50, 70 or 100-mile route. Starting lines for the routes open at 6:30 a.m. A shorter family ride is also scheduled for 10 a.m. All rides begin at the Velodrome. At 11 a.m. the "Finish Line Festival" opens at the Velodrome and will feature track races, food and drinks, vendors, hourly raffles and more. Cougar Mountain
June 14 Cougar Mountain Running Series 9 a.m.
The second installment of the Cougar Mountain Running Series kicks off at the Red Town Site with a seven and a half mile run. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. and continues until 8:30 a.m. Racing begins at 9 a.m. with awards and prizes scheduled for 11 a.m. The race is the second of four to occur over the summer. Cost per race is $25. The series continues July 19 and August 16. For more information visit the trail running Web site.
Volunteer Events*
June 14 King County Greenhouse 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Shrubs and plants will be potted at the King County Greenhouse near Renton and Maple Valley. The plants and shrubs will be used throughout King County Parks for habitat improvement and restoration projects.
June 14 Cold Creek Restoration 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The volunteer event, co-sponsored by Water Tenders, is part of an ongoing effort to restore the Cold Creek Natural area in Woodinville. Volunteers will remove scotch broom, blackberries and other weeds to allow previously planted trees to thrive and to ready the area for future plantings.
June 21 Sammamish Releaf Restoration 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Volunteers will water native trees and shrubs and also remove blackberries and Yellow Loosestrife (a noxious weed). Participants will gather at the Clise Mansion parking lot at Marymoor Park prior to the event.

Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center
June 14 Soroptimists Flag Day Celebration 10 a.m.
Soroptimists International of Federal Way hosts this annual event in the front alcove of the Aquatic Center. The ceremony includes the raising of new flags on the 50 flagpoles lining Campus Drive, reading of award winning student essays, live entertainment and presentations from military and civic leaders. June 20-22 2003 Pacific Rim Classic
The annual swimming invitational, hosted by the South Snohomish County Dolphins, will feature over 2000 athletes, officials and spectators from four states and Canada. Spectator admission is free and swimming apparel vendors will be open in the lobby. For competition times please contact the Aquatic Center, 206-296-4444.
King County Fairgrounds*
June 14 Trailblazers 4-H Horse Show 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
The Trailblazers 4-H Horse Show serves as practice and preliminary event for the King County Fair. One hundred participants are expected.
June 16 and 17 Homier Tool Sale 10:00 am - 8:00 pm (6/16), 10:00 am - 6:00 pm (6/17)
Homier "mobile merchants" will set up shop at the King County Fairgrounds and will display and sell tools, furniture, lawn accessories, collectibles and other items. Admission is free.
