News Release
Factoria Transfer Station to Re-open on June 30 to the Public - Some Restrictions Apply until Construction Completed

The Factoria transfer station will re-open to the public on June 30 with some limitations on station hours and services until construction is completed. Until June 30, the transfer station will be open to the public on weekends only. Regular weekday hours will resume on July 14.

Other impacts include:

  • The station will re-open to the public on weekdays on Monday, June 30.
  • From June 30 until July 14, reduced weekday hours will be in effect: 6:15 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Weekend hours remain unchanged: Saturday & Sunday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.
  • On the Fourth of July, station hours are 6:15 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Until June 30, household hazardous waste and recycling services will be available on weekends only. On June 30 household hazardous waste will once again be available Thursday through Sunday.
  • There will be no yard waste recycling service at the station until July 14th.
  • Regular weekday hours (6:15 am to 11:30 pm) resume on July 14th.
  • Until July 14th, the public will be charged by cubic yard, not by weight, since only one scale will be in operation. This will not increase rates.

The Factoria Transfer Station is one of King County's busiest disposal sites. In 2002 there were 114,000 customer trips to the station, which accepted 96,000 tons of waste.
