Critter Crowning to Kick-Off King County Fair

King County Fair PigMove over Huskies. Step aside Seahawks. There is a new mascot coming to town. Lenard the guinea pig, Tater Tot the Pigeon and twin goats owned by twin women are among the 13 critter finalists competing to be crowned the official mascot of the King County Fair. The Critter Crowning will take place at high noon on Wednesday, July 16 on the main stage at the King County Fairgrounds in Enumclaw. The winner will replace Dulce de Leche, a Nubian goat, who in 2002 was deemed by judges to best exemplify the spirit of the fair.

The Official judges at the fair will be King County Executive Ron Sims, King County Councilmembers Steve Hammond and Carolyn Edmonds, and Enumclaw Mayor John Wise. Other contestants battling for the crown are Foxie the cat, Frankie the rabbit, Bebee the horse, Joey the cat, Blossom the goat, Milo the dog, Snowbelle the goat, Jeffrey the sheep, Sunny the chicken, Katelyn the cow and Cindy the dog.

This year, the little things are big at the King County Fair. The 141st annual fair is one of the oldest traditional fairs west of the Mississippi. Along with a professional rodeo, and a logger's competition, the 2003 Fair will include top musical entertainment such as Jo Dee Messina, Terri Clark, Sawyer Brown, and Grand Funk Railroad. Also don't forget to check out the daily a juggling acts, clown shows, a magician show, baby animals, carnival rides, farm displays, exciting demonstrations, fresh hot scones, other fabulous foods, and much more.
