News Release
King County to share early planning for Burke-Gilman redevelopment

King County will host a public meeting October 8 to share initial plans to redevelop the oldest section of the Burke-Gilman Trail. At the meeting, set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the city of Lake Forest Park, the County will present site assessment information, the scope of the study, and redesign opportunities and constraints for the trail.

The meeting will give the public a chance to look at and provide feedback on initial plans for the trail's redevelopment, including proposed upgrades in the area that stretches from NE 145th Street to Tracey Owen Station (Logboom Park). Planners are working to ensure the trail section meets current shared-trail standards for functionality, safety, and accessibility.

The meeting is set Wednesday, October 8, 2003, in the Brookside Elementary School gymnasium, located at 17447 37th Ave NE, Lake Forest Park. Public participation is welcomed and encouraged. Following the meeting and public comment, the schematic design process begins. King County will host another public meeting after the first of the year when the preliminary schematic is ready.

For more information about the meeting, please contact project manager Leslie McLean at 206-296-0968. To learn more about the Burke Gilman Trail, please visit King County's Burke-Gilman Trail Web site.
