News Release
King County sets first public volunteer event at Three Forks Natural Area

The Three Forks Natural Area, in the Snoqualmie Valley, will be the site of a public volunteer planting event for the first time on Saturday, November 1, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will be planting native trees and shrubs along the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River. The site is a former dairy farm near the old Norman Bridge and is situated at the base of beautiful Mt. Si, and is important habitat for cougar, bear, and elk.

Directions: Between the Middle and North Forks of the Snoqualmie off 428th Ave SE, east of North Bend, between NE 6th St. and SE Reinig Rd. Watch for the volunteer event signs indicating the parking area.

  • What to wear: Wear old "work clothes" and rubber boots or heavy shoes. Dress for the weather; plantings will occur rain or shine!
  • What to bring: Bring a shovel and gloves if you have them. Light refreshments will be provided. You may want to bring a backpack with lunch and water bottle because you may be up to half a mile away from your vehicle.
  • Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Disability accommodations: Upon request, reasonable accommodations are available. Please contact Elizabeth Loudon, 206-263-6014.

This event is sponsored by King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks, King County's Small Habitat Restoration Program, the King Conservation District, and the Snoqualmie Watershed Forum.
