News Release
King County looking for help to find source of illegal septic dumping in Snoqualmie Valley

A second incident of illegal septic dumping in the Snoqualmie Valley within the last month has King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks asking for the public's help in finding the culprit.

The King County Road Services Division this afternoon is containing the spill along Novelty Hill Road at 243rd Avenue NE, near Carnation. The County is covering the spill until it can hire a contractor to clean up the mess. The spill is not expected to cause traffic disruptions.

The County has already spent about $7,000 to clean up a similar spill that occurred the evening of October 23. In that instance, a septic pumping truck was seen emptying its load at 17800 Mountain View Road Northeast near Cherry Creek in Duvall. That spill was estimated at 3,000 gallons. Efforts to locate the truck involved in that incident have not been successful. Unless the culprit is located, clean-up costs will be borne by King County taxpayers.

Anyone with information about who may be illegally dumping this sewage or may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of these spills should contact Sue Clarke, water quality specialist for King County, at 206-296-8311.
