News Release Please join the King County GIS Center, Wednesday, November 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., to see how geographic information systems (GIS) are helping King County agencies and other customers make better decisions. GIS Day is an annual event during which government agencies, private companies, and educational facilities around the country open their doors to showcase real-world applications of GIS. King County is celebrating GIS Day 2003 with an open house in the 8th Floor Conference Center of the King Street Center, 201 South Jackson Street in Seattle's Pioneer Square. The theme for GIS Day in King County this year is "Better Decisions, Better Public Service." Geography is often the basis for analyzing, representing, communicating and understanding complex public policy issues, and GIS is the tool that enables this. Attendees can listen to presentations and participate in demonstrations to learn what GIS can do. To learn more about the program and for a schedule of events for GIS Day, please visit the event Web page.
