Care about agricultural issues? King County Agriculture Commission has vacancies to fill
The King County Agriculture Commission, established in 1995 to provide input to the King County Executive and County Council on matters pertaining to agriculture and agricultural land use, has six vacancies to fill.
The Commission plays an important role as the recognized and respected collective voice of agriculture in King County. The Ag Commission advises the Executive and County Council on agricultural polices and programs, including, but not limited to: existing and proposed legislation and regulations affecting commercial agriculture; land uses as they impact agriculture; and, ways to maintain enhance and promote agriculture and agricultural products in the region.
The Commission has been a leader in the establishment and implementation of the Puget Sound Fresh program; is hosting the 3rd Western Washington Agriculture Summit; played an integral part in the Farmer's Market/Health Department Task Force which resulted in allowing a greater variety of products available at Farmer's Markets and fee relief for some of the required permits; as well as providing input on many regulatory and land use issues.
The vacancies are for: agriculture finance; nursery owner/operator; small and large crop farmers; and livestock farmers.
