DASANI "Blue Bikes" program cruising into Marymoor Park

King County residents will soon have free access to 20 brand new Trek Cruiser Classic bicycles. Thanks to the latest partnership between King County Parks and DASANI, beginning August 17 residents can embark from Marymoor Park and ride some of the region's most beautiful trails at no cost.

Join King County Executive Ron Sims, DASANI sponsors and cyclists in a kick-off event to launch the DASANI "Blue Bikes" community bicycle program at Marymoor Park on Wednesday, August 17. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. at King County's Marymoor Park near Redmond. Celebration activities include:

3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

  • Bike safety demonstrations
  • Free food and live music by Top Three
  • Free samples of DASANI bottled water
  • Ribbon cutting ceremony and DASANI check presentation
  • Following remarks, approximately 3:45 p.m., participants join Executive Sims on inaugural bike ride.

7:30 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.

  • Master's, men's and women's category 3 & 4 racing at the Group Health Velodrome. Free entry.

9:15 p.m. - 10:45 p.m.

  • First Tech Movies @ Marymoor showing the classic cycling film "Breaking Away." Free movie, donation of $5 suggested to support Marymoor Velodrome Association.


Generating revenue by increasing park amenities is one of the creative solutions King County is pursuing to keep parks open and well maintained. Through the county's entrepreneurial program, King County has created successful new ventures like the DASANI "Blue Bikes" program at Marymoor Park and has focused on partnerships as a way to enhance recreation while limiting costs.
