Bridge repairs scheduled next week along Cedar River Trail

Bridge repair work along the Cedar River Trail in Maple Valley next week will temporarily close a portion of the popular trail to equestrians, and disrupt use for pedestrians and cyclists during a daylight-hours construction period, March 13-17.

The work is occurring on a bridge where the trail crosses Witte Road Southeast, near State Route 169 in Maple Valley. Temporary beams will be placed approximately four feet above the bridge deck during construction, which will require pedestrians and bicyclists to duck underneath the beams. Equestrians will not be able to cross the bridge and should either delay their use of that portion of the trail, or find an alternate route.

The restrictions only apply during work hours. Caution tape and warning signs will be in place during construction, and the temporary beams will be removed at the end of each day, providing unimpeded access to pedestrians, bicyclists and equestrian traffic.

More information on the repair project is available by contacting project manager Joe Hicker, 206-263-7284.
