Jan. 24, 2007 Windstorm effects linger as 2-mile section of Preston-Snoqualmie Trail remains closed
Nearly two miles of King County's 5 1/2;-mile-long
Preston-Snoqualmie Trail will remain closed for possibly two more
months while repairs are made to power lines that were damaged during
last December's windstorm.
The trail is closed from
the access point at Southeast 87 th Place and 306 th Avenue Southeast
to the intersection with the Preston-Fall City Road at Southeast 65 th.
County trails managers posted closure signs at both ends of the section
that contains the downed power transmission lines, which are owned and
maintained by Puget Sound Energy. The lines were knocked down onto the
trail during the powerful windstorm that swept through the region in
mid December.
The remaining 3.41 miles of the trail
is open above its intersection with the Preston-Fall City Road. More
information about King County's trail system is available at www.metrokc.gov/parks/trails on the Internet.
