March 27, 2007 Workshop set to assist Enumclaw-area farmers - April 16 workshop will provide farmers with tips on obtaining permits Enumclaw Plateau-area farmers can learn more
about services and assistance available to them through King County at
a free workshop, April 16 at the Neuwaukum Grange.
Sponsored by the King County Agriculture Commission and King Conservation
District, the workshop will give farmers information on how to
obtain permits for basic agricultural buildings, help identify
special provisions and options for farm structures, and tips on
avoiding potential delays in the permitting process.
The workshop is set for April 16 from 10:30
a.m. to 2 p.m. at
the Neuwaukum Grange, at the corner of 180th Avenue Southeast and
Southeast 384th Street, Enumclaw. Refreshments will be served.
The workshop is open to all, but it is especially geared toward
agricultural land owners in the Enumclaw area who are actively
farming and plan to construct basic agriculture-related buildings
or clear land.
King County has been working to simplify and minimize the cost
of obtaining permits to help accommodate the needs of agriculture
landowners. For example, a new Ag Permit Team has been established
to help farmers with agriculture-related permitting issues.
Representatives
of the permit team will be at the workshop to answer any questions.
More information on the workshop is available by contacting Karen
Kinney, at 206-263-6429, or by e-mail at karen.kinney@metrokc.gov.
