Learn what King County is doing to protect Puget Sound and how your
idea to help could win $55,000 at the Puget Soundscape Kickoff Party,
June 2, from 6 to 9 p.m., in Pioneer Square’s Occidental Park.
The
King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP) is pleased
to support Puget Soundscape and join the area's foremost cultural,
educational, governmental and environmental groups in celebrating and
raising awareness about our magnificent and fragile Puget Sound.
King
County is working to safeguard Puget Sound and the environment, protect
human health and enrich the region’s quality of life. The county is a
member of the Puget Sound Partnership, which is beginning work on a
15-year plan to protect and restore the Sound ecosystem.
Environmental
education booths, including King County’s booth, will provide all kinds
of tips on how to protect Puget Sound, such as how your lawn and garden
can be “Sound friendly.” Visit the Sound Tips Web site to learn more: http://dnr.metrokc.gov/soundtips/.
Puget
Soundscape will also be the kick-off for King County’s Sound Ideas,
where individuals and organizations may receive up to $55,000 to
develop an idea that will have a significant impact in protecting Puget
Sound and its watersheds.
DNRP believes some of
the best ideas for protecting Puget Sound will come from the community.
