Oct. 4, 2007 King County teachers’ resource directory availableGuide has details on arts, environment, civil rights, preparedness, more
Teachers interested in expanding classroom lessons can find
activities, special presentations and grants for a wide range of topics
in the newly updated King County Programs for Educators Directory.
This comprehensive directory provides educators with program
descriptions and contact information on assistance and materials that
can enhance their curriculum.
"We can provide the
expertise or resources that make a school lesson come alive, while
helping us deliver on our mission to the public for such things as
reducing pollution or being prepared for emergencies," said King County
Executive Ron Sims.
Among the resources offered are programs
to assist schools and school districts in conserving natural resources
and promoting awareness of conservation strategies that will save money
and help the environment.
Teachers will also find resources such as lesson plans, educational
field trips, award-winning videos and funding opportunities related to
public art, civil rights, emergency preparedness, and transportation.
This is the 11th year that the Solid Waste Division of the King County
Department of Natural Resources and Parks has produced the directory,
which incorporates services and programs provided by a number of other
county agencies.
Copies are available from the Solid Waste Division by calling 206-296-6542, via e-mail at website.swd@kingcounty.gov or on the Web site at www.metrokc.gov/dnrp/Educators.
