New "Blue Bikes" program at Marymoor Park
King County, DASANI, Rails to Trails Conservancy, local supporters and cyclists kicked off the DASANI "Blue Bikes" community bicycle program at Marymoor Park in August. King County residents now have free access to 20 brand new Trek Cruiser Classic bicycles to ride on some of the regions most beautiful trails at no cost. DASANI "Blue Bikes" will be housed in specially designed storage lockers located next to Group Health Velodrome in Marymoor Park, giving residents free access, seven days a week. People can take part in the program by registering for a "Blue Bikes" card at the King County Parks and Recreation office in Marymoor Park. Cyclists simply pass the card through the reader at a "Blue Bikes" locker to remove a bike, and return it at the end of their ride.
Brian Cook memorial bench at Big Finn Hill Park
The family of Brian Cook chose to honor Brian's life and love of Big Finn
Hill Park with a bequest of $10,000 to King County Parks. A bench commemorating Brian was recently unveiled at Big Finn Hill Park. Brian, a Boeing
engineer, visited the park nearly every day with his dog Teddy. King County Parks thanks the Cook family for their generous and thoughtful gift in Brian's honor.
Gifts that preserve open space, provide new amenities or ensure ongoing support for a specific facility or program are tangible ways of making a difference now and in the future. Donations and bequests can be made directly to King County Parks, with all funds used only for parks purposes. Donations are fully tax-deductible, although potential donors should consult their financial adviser or tax preparer.
