River Mile Christian Brothers 1998 25 400 Right 17.1 Severe erosion of the Christian Brothers' Levee along the right bank of the Green River at River Mile 17.1 was addressed in 1998 with a setback of portions of both Russell Road and the Green River Trail system. Relocating these features some 60 to 90 feet landward of their historic location immediately adjacent to the over-steepened riverbank allowed for construction of two midslope benches. The elevation of these benches was chosen to coincide with levels of flood release commonly experienced on the Green River, in order to provide areas of shallow, low-velocity water fringing the main channel over a range of flood discharge, as a refuge for both juvenile salmonids and migratory adults. In-water portions of the site were protected against erosion with a series of LWD structures set parallel with the bankline, providing a zone of low-velocity water and overhanging cover for juvenile salmonid rearing habitat.
