The Disappearing Forest - our forested foothills
at risk !
Notes:
- If you live in King County, you have seen the forest foothills as you drive out I-90 past North Bend. They are the forested hillsides you see before coming to the steeper topography of the higher elevation Cascades.
- It’s hard to imagine NOT having the forested foothills surrounding us.
- But as the area grows, pressure increases to replace our forests with subdivisions and houses. Once these forests are replaced, they are gone forever.
- While we need to accommodate growth with affordable housing, we need to be aware of the effect that growth is having on our forestland, and therefor on all of us.
