Synopsis: Chemicals used in your yard and on your lawn can end up in your home. Greg and Doug show you ways to prevent and eliminate tracking toxins into your house for a safer, healthier home. Learn how to identify risky products, how to safely recycle chemicals found in your garage or garden shed and how to have a beautiful, healthy yard without chemicals.

How to Reduce Your Family's Exposure to Chemicals in Your Home

  • Avoid tracking chemicals into your home by taking off your shoes at the door or using a doormat to wipe your feet.
  • Damp-mop your floors regularly to reduce dust.
  • When you come in from your yard, wash everything off thoroughly: your hands, toys, pacifiers and any fruits or vegetables you’ve grown.
  • In your yard wear gloves while gardening and remove them before coming inside.
  • Don’t forget your pets...place mats down near entry points and when possible, try to wipe off their paws.

Not using chemicals in your yard is the best preventive method of all!
