The Salmon Watcher Program trains volunteers to identify and record species and numbers of spawning salmonids in streams in the Lake Washington Watershed and on Vashon Island.
The Salmon Watcher training sessions are complete for 2007. We hope you did not miss them if you wanted to volunteer. If you would like to be informed of training sessions for fall 2008, please contact us and we'll put you on the list. If you have volunteered with us in the past and would like to volunteer again this year, please just let us know and we'll get you set up.
For now, if you would like to get out and see fish, volunteer, or learn more about salmon-friendly living, check out Fall For Salmon.
For further information about the Salmon Watcher Program, please contact Jennifer Vanderhoof at 206.263.6533 or send email to jennifer.vanderhoof@kingcounty.gov.
Attention! Special Request! If you are a volunteer and see coho prespawned mortalities (like we discuss in training), please call Jana Labenia, NOAA, at 206.860.6791. For more information about coho prespawning mortalities, including video showing normal and affected fish, click here.
