Project Description

Importance for Salmon

  • This project involves protection of existing habitat with the potential for stream restoration in the future
  • Big Spring Creek is a key cold water source for Newaukum Creek, which is home to the threatened Chinook salmon
  • The creek also is a haven for coho salmon that are currently abundant in this creek but across Puget Sound are considered a "candidate" species for listing under the federal Endangered Species Act
