Project Description

  • Located on Tramp Harbor on the east side of Vashon Island just north of the isthumus to Maury Island
  • Project is NS-10 in the 2005 Salmon Habitat Plan (page 7-117)
  • This project puchased a salt marsh and surrounding uplands
  • In 2007, a dirt access road across the marsh was removed, reconnecting 0.22 acres to the rest of a 0.8 acre salt marsh
  • In 2008, non-native plants will be removed and additional marsh plants will be planted

Importance for Salmon

  • Pocket estuaries are particularly important for juvenile Chinook and chum for rearing, refuge from predators, and transition to saltwater habitats
