Project Description

Located in the Lower Green River Subwatershed
Project is project LG-9 in the 2005 Salmon Habitat Plan (page 7-65)
Project involves acquisition of up to 37 acres of habitat along the Lower Green River in the City of Kent

Partners and Funding

Led by City of Kent with the support of King County and the Green River Flood Control Zone District
$975,085 funded by SRFB (fourth round), $25,000 funded by King County, and $25,000 funded by Green River Flood Control Zone District

Photo across the Green River from the Rosso Nursery site, which will be purchased for future salmon habitat restoration

Importance for Salmon

This area is used as a migration corridor by threatened chinook salmon
Purchase of this property will maintain existing conditions on this property, including riparian cover and absence of a levee
Purchase preserves future opportunities to restore properly functioning salmonid habitat in the Lower Green River Subwatershed
Restoration at this site will increase habitat connectivity among current and future habitat restoration sites within this subwatershed
