Importance for Salmon

  • Newaukum Creek is an important spawning area, with approximately 16% of the naturally spawning adult Chinook that enter the Green/Duwamish Watershed
  • Newaukum Creek provides important spawning, rearing, and migration habitat for Chinook, coho, steelhead, chum, cutthroat, sockeye, and pink salmon
  • This project will help maintain the diversity of spawning areas in the watershed, which helps protect the population from natural hazards and human impacts
