Project Description

  • Located in the Middle Green River Subwatershed
  • Project involves acquisition of up to 30 acres of important habitat along the Middle Green River
  • Builds on previous Waterways 2000 open space acquisitions in the area

Partners and Funding

Importance for Salmon

  • Adjacent to 900+ acres of protected public open space
  • Protection of key side channel habitat and habitat forming process area that is important to salmon for spawning and rearing habitat
  • Threatened chinook use the area for spawning and rearing
  • The area is one of the few properly functioning, unleveed stretches of the Middle Green River
  • Possible opportunity for future enhancement including placement of large woody debris and planting native trees and shrubs
