Project Description

  • Located on the Lower Green River in the City of Kent
  • Project is part of Salmon Habitat Plan project LG-7 (page 7-62)
  • This project will pay for a feasibility study and design of restoration of the lower one-quarter mile of Mill Creek and the confluence with the Green River
  • When constructed, this project will create side channels and a pond to provide refuge for Chinook, coho, and other salmonids

Partners and Funding

Importance for Salmon

  • This stretch of the Green River provides rearing habitat and is a migration corridor for all Chinook and other salmonids produced on the Green River
  • This project will benefit coho salmon and cutthroat trout that spawn and rear in Mill Creek
  • The project will improve refuge for young fish from high flows that would otherwise push them downstream
