Present Photos of the Seawall SiteIn October 1999, the work began. The construction team had seven days in which to remove four sets of railroad tracks, excavate the existing seawall, backfill the area with concrete fill, and replace the tracks. Tracks are removed and excavation is underway. Watching as
history reveals itself. Boulders and
old timber piles of the original walls are dug up. Following excavation, new forms are set and concrete poured. The tunneling machine can bore through concrete. The tracks
are relaid.
