To protect public health and the environment and ensure safe and reliable operations, the Wastewater Treatment Division will upgrade the Bellevue Pump Station facilities.

The pump station is located at Southeast Sixth Street and 102nd Avenue Southeast. It pumps about 8 million gallons per day of wastewater from west Bellevue to the Sweyolocken Pump Station near the Mercer Slough. From there, the wastewater flows to King County’s South Treatment Plant in Renton.

During phase one of the upgrade, a new 5,300-foot-long, 24-inch-diameter pipe was installed from the Bellevue Pump Station directly to the Eastside Interceptor, a large regional pipe near Interstate 405. The force main project was completed in March 2008.

A new pump station will be built on the existing site during the second phase of the project in 2008. The new pump station will have greater capacity and improved electrical and control systems.

Schedule

  • January 2007 - Bids received on Force Main project
  • Summer 2007 - Force Main construction begins
  • March 2008 - Force Main construction complete
  • 2008 - Pump Station project begins
