To improve stormwater control and protect the environment, King County installed a stormwater vault, and a ventilation pipe and stack along Fourth Avenue N.E. near the Ship Canal (I-5) bridge in Seattle.

The vault and ventilation add capacity to the local stormwater system and reduce potential street flooding during large storms. An existing manhole was also upgraded in the public access area across Northeast Northlake Way.

Project Schedule

  • Construction start: April 2007
  • Construction end: October 2007
