Barton Street Pump Station Upgrade

Barton Street Pump Station Upgrade

King County protects public health and the environment by conveying and treating the region’s wastewater. Many of King County’s wastewater facilities are more than 40 years old and do not meet current design standards. To ensure the safe and reliable operation of the Barton Street Pump Station, King County must upgrade it.

The pump station is located at 9005 Fauntleroy Way, SW. It is an underground facility located next to the Fauntleroy ferry landing. The pump station pumps wastewater to the Murray Avenue Pump Station and on to the county’s regional treatment plant at West Point in Seattle.

Proposed work

  • Phase One.
    • Replace pumps
    • Upgrade electrical and mechanical equipment
    • All upgrades done on King County property
  • Phase Two.
    • Construct vault for odor control equipment and emergency generator

Schedule

Construction is expected to begin in 2008 and last 18-24 months.
